About

Burke Street Trimmings assumed its name in 2004 when Sandra Wachtel decided to open a storefront in downtown Martinsburg; obviously on Burke Street! For the previous 25 years, Sandra had worked with local clients and businesses under the name of Window Creations. 2004 felt like the perfect time for a change. Burke Street added to its reputation as a superior design shop and residential and commercial window treatment company by adding high end lamps, accessories and antiques.

In 2007, she purchased an old farmhouse and transformed an existing shed into her studio.  2014 found Sandra remarried to her husband and together they purchased and renovated her current home and studio.  It’s a comfortable, easy space in which to work toward the completion of your next project.

Sandra is well versed in the principles of interior design including space planning, layout, utilizations of furnishings and color coordination and has been in the design field since graduation from WVU. Her experience includes working with commercial, public and private clients both large and small. Though she is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, she is very willing to travel into the surrounding states of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Through a series of discussions, she will learn about your your style, needs and desires as well as that of the space. Her goal is to create a timeless, unique and functional environment for you.

Sandra offers both commercial and residential interior design services along with custom window treatments, upholstery, paint color selection, painting, and home staging.

Some of the commercial projects Burke Street Trimmings has completed in the Martinsburg area are Miller’s Apple Valley Chevrolet Toyota Scion, Centra Bank, United Bank, US Coast Guard and the local Veterans Administration Center. Many doctors’ offices and local schools as well as your neighbor are on the list of current, past and referenced projects. Projects have ranged from New Mexico to North Carolina.
